Jesus Weeps Over Israel’s Coming Destruction (Luke 19:41-44)

In one of the most emotional moments of His entire earthly ministry, Jesus weeps for Jerusalem. Israel as a nation has rejected their Savior and Messiah, and their destruction is certain, including their leading city. Their refusal to acknowledge Jesus as the Promised One from God as foretold in the Old Testament has crossed a line of no return. Their time to respond has passed. They will be destroyed. Our own opportunity to respond to God’s mercy and salvation is limited. Will you respond to Jesus before it is too late for you?

Timeline of Truth: Introduction to the Book of Judges
With this lesson, we begin our study in one of the most honest and discouraging books of the Bible: Judges. God does not sugarcoat the sins of people or of nations. As the 7th book of the Bible, Judges serves to remind us of the downhill spiral of any people who reject God and His design for them. Though these events take place prior to the kings of Israel (beginning with Saul), the truths we will uncover will connect with the very time in which we live. We will give a brief overview of the book’s historical setting and purpose, and see that God alone is the Hero of the book, and rescues on the basis of His grace. [NOTE: The recording is not the best due to some technical issues. Sorry.]

Jesus Tells the Parable of a Father and His Two Sons #2 (Luke 15:17-24)

Wednesday, February 21st, 2018

Sin is stupid when we see it realistically. The wasteful and foolish younger son had spent everything in a far land, and finds himself desolate and desperate, feeding pigs and eating their food. In these circumstances, this son comes to his senses. He realizes how foolish his choices were, how bad his sin was, and how obvious the results of sin were. The things he rejected – his father and the structure and responsibility of family – now seemed incredibly favorable and acceptable. Even the lowest hired hand of his father had plenty to eat. The desolate son repents of his sin and makes plans to return to his father and confess his sinfulness, and to request to be a hired hand. He acts on his decision and heads home. Before he reaches his home, he is seen by his father, who responds with the most amazing actions. Jesus emphasizes God’s view of a repentant sinner and the joy which God embraces him.

We look at the last 5 imperatives given to Timothy. They impact a pastor’s vision, and inform us as well!

Ten Imperatives of Pastoring – Part 1 (2 Tim 2:1-13)

Monday, January 14th, 2013

The book of 2 Timothy was written to Timothy, a man who was saved through Paul’s ministry, and one who had served with Paul for many years. In Chapter 1, Paul writes to encourage Timothy, who seemed to be struggling with being fearful.

In Chapter 2, Paul now calls for Timothy to “man up,” “step up to the plate,” and be the leader God wants Timothy to be by giving Timothy 10 commands (actually 11, but I combine 2). Though written to a pastor of a church, these principles apply to all believers in amazing ways. This session looks at the first 5 imperatives (commands).

Grace for Saving and for Serving (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

We break down and look at a very well-known passage of Scripture – Ephesians 2:8-10. What do works have to do with salvation? What about grace or faith?

Timeline of Truth 16 – Noah Finds Grace (Gen 6:8-9)

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

God chooses the ONE MAN that was living rightly. We know clearly that salvation is not of works – it is by belief alone in the finished work of Jesus Christ. This grace or favor seems to be connected to Noah’s performance because of his belief and behavior. Noah stood out in the midst of the entire rest of the violent and corrupt world in his God-honoring belief and conduct. God noted him and had favor on him because of that.

We look at 6 factors of favor with God.

Timeline of Truth 9 – God Extends Grace to Sinners (Genesis 3:9-24)

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

God responded to Adam’s sin in holiness. He also responded in GRACE! God did for sinners (Adam & Eve, but also the human race) what they could not do themselves.
