Anything we understand about Christmas is wholly incomplete without the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to judge and rule the world. Jesus came the first time to rescue the world from sin and its consequences. He will return a second time to “judge and make war” with all who refuse to accept Him as their Savior.

Continuing to depart from the typical “Christmas passages,” we take a look at Philippians 2:1-11. This passage records the coming of the Lord Jesus, not in terms of shepherds, angels, and a manger, but from the standpoint of His stepping down from His privileges as God the Son. He sets aside His glory, humbles Himself, and takes on the form of a man, ultimately dying a horrible death for the sin of mankind. And all of this applies to US!
