Timeline of Truth: God Strikes the Firstborn and Delivers Israel (Exodus 12:1-51)

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

God performs the final plague. He kills all of the firstborn in all of the land of Egypt. He passes over the houses that have applied the lamb’s blood to the door as He instructed.

Pharaoh (who’s firstborn had been killed) sends the children of Israel away. The Egyptians encourage them to go. God delivers the children of Israel from Egypt in an amazing, powerful way, and establishes an eternal observance of Unleavened Bread and the Passover. It’s that big of a deal.

God Designs Marriage: 13 Principles from Genesis (Genesis 1-3)

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

Even in conservative Christian circles, people miss what God clearly establishes regarding marriage in the first three chapters of Genesis. These truths remain unchanged throughout the Bible. Will the Bible be your authority regarding the very basis of marriage, gender, children, society, and the Church?

Mark 10:2-9 The Pharisees came and asked Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” testing Him. 3 And He answered and said to them, “What did Moses command you?” 4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her.” 5 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 6 “But from the beginning of the creation, God `made them male and female.’ 7 `For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 `and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 “Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

A Little Church with a Big God: Truths that Help a Small Assembly Stand Strong (Revelation 3:7-13)

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

We take a look at 13 observations from the exhortation given by Jesus to the Church at Philadelphia.

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: 8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 “Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie — indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 10 “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 “Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 “He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. 13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ‘ (Rev 3:7-13)

5 Provisions that God Gives Which Enable Us to Walk with Him (2 Peter 1:3-4)

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

We have been studying 10 practices of a mature and obedient follower of Jesus. These actions should and will become part of our lives as we become more like Jesus.

The good news is that God just didn’t give us a list (of which the 10 are a part), but He also gave us the means and ability to do these things. 2 Peter 1 records five provisions that God has given to allow us and enable us to follow Jesus.
