Ten Imperatives of Pastoring – Part 1 (2 Tim 2:1-13)

Monday, January 14th, 2013

The book of 2 Timothy was written to Timothy, a man who was saved through Paul’s ministry, and one who had served with Paul for many years. In Chapter 1, Paul writes to encourage Timothy, who seemed to be struggling with being fearful.

In Chapter 2, Paul now calls for Timothy to “man up,” “step up to the plate,” and be the leader God wants Timothy to be by giving Timothy 10 commands (actually 11, but I combine 2). Though written to a pastor of a church, these principles apply to all believers in amazing ways. This session looks at the first 5 imperatives (commands).

See what great encouragement comes from a man who himself is awaiting execution (Paul)! Be sure to check out Part 1 of this message as well (given in two parts on 1/6/2013).

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013

We can easily become so consumed with the details of life and Christian living that we miss the basics. We NEED these four essentials in order to live a Christian life. Period. (Given at our New Year’s Eve gathering.)

Rescue Accomplished: Jesus Will Return to Rule (Rev 19:11-16)

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013

Anything we understand about Christmas is wholly incomplete without the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to judge and rule the world. Jesus came the first time to rescue the world from sin and its consequences. He will return a second time to “judge and make war” with all who refuse to accept Him as their Savior.

Christmas Love (1 John 4:7-12)

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013

Another non-traditional “Christmas passage,” 1 John 4:7-12 gives us some beautiful insight on God’s gift of love to us in the giving His Son Jesus as the propitiation for our sins, and our proper response to it.

The Heavenly Christmas Account (Philippians 2:1-11)

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013

Continuing to depart from the typical “Christmas passages,” we take a look at Philippians 2:1-11. This passage records the coming of the Lord Jesus, not in terms of shepherds, angels, and a manger, but from the standpoint of His stepping down from His privileges as God the Son. He sets aside His glory, humbles Himself, and takes on the form of a man, ultimately dying a horrible death for the sin of mankind. And all of this applies to US!
